Uganda is a land locked country like its neighbor Rwanda it has no seaport. It lies across the equator in eastern Africa between longitudes 291/2 east and 350 east and between 41/2 south, at an average altitude of 1,100 meters above sea level. The country covers an area of about 236,580sq.km and about 15.39% is covered by water. Uganda got independence from the United Kingdom on 9th October 1962. Uganda neighbors’ countries like the Democratic Republic of Congo to the West, the republic of Kenya to the East, the republic of south Sudan to the North and the United republic of Tanzania and the republic of Rwanda to the South.
