Uganda is a land locked country like its neighbor Rwanda it has no seaport. It lies across the equator in eastern Africa between longitudes 291/2 east and 350 east and between 41/2 south, at an average altitude of 1,100 meters above sea level. The country covers an area of about 236, and about 15.39% is covered by water. Uganda got independence from the United Kingdom on 9th October 1962. Uganda neighbors’ countries like the Democratic Republic of Congo to the West, the republic of Kenya to the East, the republic of south Sudan to the North and the United republic of Tanzania and the republic of Rwanda to the South.

Uganda’s capital and largest city is Kampala which is just about 47 kilometers from the Entebbe international airport. Uganda is a lush fertile country with spectacular scenery with abundant wildlife, thereby justifying its description ‘’the Pearl of Africa. Uganda has a remarkably diverse landscape- the Kigezi high land commonly referred to as the Switzerland of Africa, the legendary snow-capped Rwenzori Mountains, Dense tropical forest, rolling savannah, fresh water lakes and breathtaking waters on the Rive Nile. Not only that,  but Uganda is also blessed with over 10 national parks and abundant game reserves, including Murchison falls national park the largest Uganda national park covering an area of about 2840Square kilometers , other parks include Queen Elizabeth National park, Kibale forest national park, Lake Mburo N.P, Bwindi Impenetrable N.P, Semliki forest National Park, Kidepo Valley N.P, Mount Elgon N.P, Mt.Rwenzori N.P, Mgahinga Gorilla forest N.P, each park offers unique features rarely seen in other countries including mountain gorilla and uncrowded viewing of a varied animals, birds and plants species .
